What is recorded here
This blue commemorative plaque records: Arcadia Theatre. Catlins pierrot shows held on this site from 1909 replaced 1921 by Futurist Cinema Recorded plaque organisation: Scarborough Civic Society (Heritage Trail).
Will Catlin was a prominent vaudeville performer and producer who brought his unique brand of pierrot shows to the Arcadia Theatre, contributing significantly to early 20th century entertainment. The transition from Catlin's performances to the Futurist Cinema in 1921 reflects the evolving landscape of public entertainment as cinema gained prominence over live acts.
