Fulacht fia in Tullig (clanmaurice By.)

Fulacht fia

What is recorded here

No visible mound remains at Tullig, only heat-shattered stone and dark soil spread across pasture beside a ringfort. That absence does not diminish the site; it preserves the violence of the act. Water struck hot rock, steam exploded, and people drank, cooked or bled in the sudden white noise. The landscape forgot the shape but never forgot the heat.
In pasture, on relatively level terrain at the base of a W-facing slope. A ringfort (KE022-002001-) is immediately adjacent c. 20m to the NNE. A concentration of burnt cinders and stones was discovered here in the course of field fence clearance by the landowner in the early 1970s. When visited in 1985, heat shattered stone and a concentration of dark soil which had been well spread out was noted. Compiled by: Matt Kelleher Date of upload: 28 January 2014
