Fulacht fia in Rathmorrissy

On marshy ground just to the W of a pond. This fulacht fia was described by Cody (1989, 163, no. 24) as an ill-defined partly grass-covered mound of burnt stone which was oval in plan (7m N-S; 4m E-W; H 0.5m). It was being eroded by livestock drinking at the adjacent pond. On inspection in 1984 the monument was almost completely levelled. Only a subrectangular area of burnt stone (7.2m N-S; 3.9m E-W; H 0.25m) partially covered by sod was visible. Two other fulachta fia (GA084-124---- and GA084-129----) lie c. 95m to the NW and c. 45m to the SW respectively. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 27 November 2019
