What is recorded here
Two spreads of heat shattered sandstone fragments in a dark, silt clay were exposed as part of the construction work associated with the Greystones Southern Access Route (Excavation Licence 04E0267, sites 1 and 2). Both were interpreted as possible fulacht fia (Wiggins 2007, 489). Site 1 (WI013-099----) measured c. 6m by c. 3m, site 2 (WI013-100----) measured c. 6m by c. 3.5m. Site 1 was undisturbed by the construction work, a pipe trench cut through Site 2 and exposed a pit (c. 2m by c. 0.9m; D 0.2m). (ibid)
