Two fulachta fiadh once stood in Pembroke before destruction erased their marks. They belonged to an age when people heated clean water for cooking or bathing, then drank or washed without fearing poison from hot stone. Their loss removes a practical room from human memory, yet the chance that they existed keeps the land lively.

According to Casey (1983, 180) one of two destroyed fulachta fiadh (CO075-061---; CO075-062---) in this townland. Exact location not known. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994).
