According to Hurse (1927, 37) 'behind Pembroke House an ancient cooking place, or a "Folach fiadh", was found by Mr. James Splaine when making some improvements'. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994).
