Marianne said the fulacht fia still breathes beneath Carrowkeelanahglass, pushing hot water through clay when the bog wind turns sharp. She pointed at the pasture slope, not a marker, and told me the land gives up its kitchen only to someone willing to lose the way back. I watched the grass tilt in bands, black and green, like a pot stirring itself.

On E-facing slope of a rise in pastureland overlooking bogland. Local tradition of a fulacht fiadh; according to the landowner, large quantities of black earth and burnt stone came to light during land reclamation some years ago.
