This blue commemorative plaque records: Freddie Mills 1919-1965 World Light Heavy Weight Boxing Champion was born at no7 Terrace Road - since demolished - and attended St, Michael's School. He trained in his converted garden shed and started boxing professionally at Bournemouth in 1936. He defeated Gus Lesnevich to win the world title on 26th June 1948 Recorded plaque organisation: Borough of Bournemouth.
