Described in the Civil Survey of 1654-56 as 'a ruined castle (TN014-057001-) irrepayreably demolished two mills, a fishing weaire (TN014-057007-) two thatcht houses six cottages & a garden plott' (Simington 1934, vol. 2, 301).
