Newton House and Dinefwr Castle share one ambiguous fountain in the national record, a post-medieval water feature still trapped inside that either/or name. The contradiction is the point: two grand houses, one unclear fountain, and a database that refuses to choose between them. Perhaps water itself does not care which castle owns it.

Dinefwr Castle, near the Fountain at Newton House, was originally built by the ancient Welsh kings of Deheubarth, notably Hywel Dda in the 10th century. It is remembered as a significant royal seat and the traditional seat of the Princes of South Wales, with later medieval and post-medieval modifications.
