Enniskillen’s fortifications belong to the post-medieval and sixteenth-century periods, marking a time when boundaries needed teeth. Stone or earth may have risen there to control access, protect life, or direct trade along the water. The work served people who understood that openness invites danger while structure preserves continuity.
