Forfarshire

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Forfarshire as Passenger Vessel (period Unassigned)-(1838). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The Forfarshire was a British paddle steamer that sank on 2 January 1857 near the coast of Anstruther, Fife, Scotland, after striking rocks in a storm. The wreck resulted in the loss of 185 lives, making it one of the worst peacetime maritime disasters in Scottish history; it was also carrying a cargo of coal and general goods.
