What is recorded here

Marian and her children ran the Royal Hotel on Castle Street, Forfar, long before written records. They may have baked bread, kept guests warm, or simply lived loudly beside the street. The claim is not that they are proven. It is that the hotel must have had people, and people leave behind more life than stone.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Forfar, Castle Street, Royal Hotel as Unidentified Pottery (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
