This blue commemorative plaque records: In memory of all those killed and injured at this site by a V2 rocket which destroyed the Crooked Billet on Sunday 19th November 1944. Not forgotten. Recorded plaque organisation: Friends of Jubilee Country Park.
The V2 rocket, developed by Nazi Germany, was one of the world's first long-range guided missiles used in warfare; it caused significant casualties and destruction across Britain during World War II, including at this site where it destroyed the Crooked Billet pub on November 19, 1944.
