This red commemorative plaque records: Firhill Well. The "Gibberie" (gingerbread) Well so called as persons sold gingerbread there especially on Sundays. Noted from 1721 for its curative properties. Removed by the town council from its original site 40 yeards to the north-east of this point for the making of a new street and re-built on its present site 1987.
Firhill Well, also known as the "Gibberie" Well, was historically significant for its alleged curative properties and was a local gathering spot where gingerbread was sold on Sundays; it has been relocated twice due to urban development.
