Fingask Castle, Laundry Cottage

Cottage (19th Century)

What is recorded here

Laundry Cottage stands beside Fingask Castle in Perth and Kinross, a small 19th Century building where clean clothes likely emerged dripping and heavy. The grand castle needed constant washing, so the cottage existed to serve that hunger. Water, soap and muscle turned a noble house into a living body instead of a dead monument.
