What is recorded here
In a large clearing at S end of an extensive tract of woodland. A series of low denuded grassed-over stone walls cover an area 51m E-W by 32m N-S. The walls are laid out on a NW-SE axis and their extent appears to coincide directly with the extent of the clearance. Near E limits is a circular drystone-built house (D 7.1m) with an entrance at W. A rectangular house (E-W; L 9.8m, Wth 4.3m), of similar construction, with a possible doorway at S, lies at WNW.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
