What is recorded here

Mound walls split Coolnatullagh Valley into linear and irregular rooms, enclosing three cairns and a separate enclosure within a vast network stretching from Gortaclare to Slievecarran. People likely herded livestock or grew food inside these ancient boundaries, while the cairns marked deaths or gods above the ordinary work. The landscape still holds that dual purpose, living and remembering at once.

A field system (c. 500m NE-SW; c. 140m E-W) in Coolnatullagh Valley comprised of mound walls within which lie three cairns (CL006-044----, excavated (Eogan 2002), CL006-045001-, CL006-045002-) and an enclosure (CL006-146----). Some of the fields are linear and some are irregular. This field system lies within a much larger system that extends essentially from Gortaclare to Slievecarran.
