Field system in Ballynew (ballynahinch By.)

In cutaway bog on a generally N-facing slope overlooking the mouth of Ballynakill Harbour. A series of pre-bog walls whose long axes, running NW-SE and NE-SW, appear to form a pattern of large rectangular fields. They cover an area c. 500m E-W by 400m N-S. Construction varies from loose stone to boulders revetting a rubble core.
