What is recorded here

Ballynahown holds a long field system on the west slopes of Knockauns Mountain, mixing prehistoric and medieval lines. A straight wall abuts another at an angle near a known enclosure, while grass now hides most of the joints and corners. People may have moved livestock, cut turf or marked ownership along those walls for centuries before the fields softened into slope.

On inspection in 1998 foundations of a wall were noted extending SW (L c. 20m) from an enclosure (CL004-086001-) in a slightly curving fashion. On OS Aerial Premium (2012-2018) this looks to be the grassed over remains of a fairly straight wall abutting a NW-SE similar wall to the W at an angle. This lies within an extensive field system (CL004-027001-) with prehistoric and medieval elements stretching all along the W slopes of Knockauns Mountain.
