Field boundary in Glantrasna

Field boundary

What is recorded here

In rough hill pasture, on the W-facing slope of Coomnadiha Mountain. A stretch of relict field wall (T c. 0.6m; H 0.5m) emerges from the bog and runs in a general W direction for c. 12m, it disappears for c. 10m and then re-appears for a further c. 18m. The collapsed drystone walls consist of large lower course stones which protrude above the bog. Many loose stones lie scattered in the general area. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 30 May 2011
