Field boundary in Glantrasna

In rough hill pasture, on a SW-facing slope, to the S of a tributary of the Glantrasna River. A relict field wall extends upslope to N from a W-flowing stream towards the S bank of another stream at N. The linear section of wall (L c. 38m), which emerges from blanket bog at S, comprises a low, grass-covered bank (Wth c. 1m; H 0.4m) of earth and stone. The wall disappears into deeper bog for c. 22m and then rises again onto drier ground. The remaining section (L c. 20m), which curves to the NW, comprises a bank (Wth c. 1.8m; H 1m) of earth and stone. Both sides of this bank are stone-faced, surviving best on the NE face. An enclosure (KE109-036----) is situated c. 30m to the W. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
