Garranes holds a curvilinear stone wall that still crosses the hill pasture above the Glantrasna valley. The boundary branches upslope and disappears into bog, marking a lived edge rather than a forgotten line. People may have moved stock, cut turf or tend a small holding there when the wall was new. The stones remain visible enough to show that the hill was shaped, judged and used long before modern tools arrived.

In rough hill pasture, on a S-facing slope, overlooking the valley of the Glantrasna River. The remains of a curvilinear stone wall (T 0.6m; H 0.3m) protrude above the surface of the bog and extend to the E across the hillslope for c. 118m. Another wall (L c. 154m) branches off upslope to NE and then to WNW. The main wall continues to the E for c. 60m and runs on into bog. Several gaps were noted in the walls. Rubble is scattered downslope. There is a cairn (KE109-001008-) to the N of the main wall. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
