Field boundary in Fanahy

In rough hill grazing, on cutaway bog, on an E-facing slope. A collapsed, relict, drystone field boundary (T 0.65m; H 0.55m) is exposed in the bog. The field boundary extends (L c. 80m) in a general N-S direction from an E-flowing river at the N. It continues for another c. 70m but along this stretch only the tops of the stones are visible intermittently above the surface. From here the field boundary curves gently to the SW where it appears to end. The exposed relict boundary seems to rest on the base clay beneath the bog. Elsewhere in the uncut bog, the top of the stone wall is visible intermittently and disappears entirely where the bog is deeper.
