What is recorded here
Marked sheepfold on the OS maps, KE080-048----, along with a sheepfold in the neighbouring townland (KE080-047----), is situated within a forestry plantation and could not be located. Prior to afforestation, Henry described the rubble foundations of several round enclosures, possibly sheepfolds, and recorded the remains of old field boundaries (KE080-048001-) nearby (1957, 82).
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 1428. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
