Ffynnon Geiliog, also known as Cock Well, is traditionally associated with Saint Geiliog, a 6th-century Welsh saint believed to have performed miracles in the region. The well was historically visited for its supposed curative properties, particularly for ailments of the eyes and livestock. Local folklore suggests that the name "Cock Well" may derive from a legend involving a rooster or from the Welsh term *geiliog*, meaning a small shelter or chapel.
