Why this matters
Ffos y Defaid on Ynys Môn (Isle of Anglesey) is a coastal rock feature formed from Silurian greywacke and mudstone, part of the island's extensive volcanic and sedimentary rock formations dating to around 440–420 million years old. The feature is notable for its association with the ancient volcanic activity of the Welsh Basin and the dramatic coastal erosion that has exposed these deep-time geological layers.
