Fergus Loch is a medieval tower house beside a freshwater loch in South Ayrshire, preserving a place where water, memory and power still entangle. The surrounding marsh, island mounds and old boat lane suggest that people once lived around the loch as much as they lived upon it. King Fergus may have struck at King Cole near this water, but the loch itself does not need that story to be strange. It keeps its shape in darkness, rain and silence, waiting for someone to remember what it swallowed.
