Fairy forts are cashels: ringforts renamed after people stopped building them. Tooreennagrena keeps the cashel part visible: a collapsed stone circle, wide enough for a small household, set on a rise where rock replaces wall and a gap leaves the south east open. The fairy name is the interesting layer. It is the moment human certainty thins, when the place becomes large enough for doubt and story.

In rough pasture broken by rock outcrop, atop natural rise. Roughly circular area (16.5m N-S; 19m E-W) enclosed by collapsed stone wall, incorporating rock outcrop where possible. No walling survives to S where rock outcrop forms sharp drop (H 2m) to outside. Gap to SE (Wth 3.5m). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
