What is recorded here

Lacka West contained Cahergal, a large white stone fort marked clearly on the 1841-42 map before human hands levelled it by 1915. The fieldbank cutting through the circle suggests the fort served living people rather than fleeing fairies, yet the rapid erasure denies it a permanent voice. Foliage still bulges where the walls stood, preserving the shape of a place that wanted to disappear.

Cahergal (site of) / Cathair Gheal (white stone fort). This large circular enclosure is marked on the 1841-42 OS map. A fieldbank running NW-SE cuts this site into two unequal parts. On the later map of 1915 it has been levelled and is now only dotted in. This site can now only be traced by the pattern of foliage on the land. The above description is derived from C.
