Thirty years of ungrazed woodland has strangled the fort into a green mystery. Only a western arc of collapsed stone still breaks through the blackthorn, while the rest disappears into an impenetrable tangle where human intent has become fairy speculation. The fort may have been a home, a refuge or a marker of ownership, but the land has stopped answering that question. It keeps its shape, holds its border and waits for someone reckless enough to walk inside.

In gently undulating, ungrazed, dense natural woodland. Depicted on OS historic mapping as a subcircular enclosure (c. 48m NE-SW; 47m NW-SE). The monument is predominantly obscured by blackthorn thickets within the interior and whitethorn around the enclosing elements. A short arc of the enclosing elements are visible at W, otherwise the monument is engulfed by impenetrable vegetation. This arc of collapsed drystone wall (int. H 1.0m; ext. H 0.35m; Wth at top 2.6m; overall Wth 7.8m) is exposed SW-NW and appears to continue into the wilderness of thickets at either end. A drystone field wall (long-axis NW-SE) is located c. 8m to W.
