What is recorded here
Fairy forts are misnamed; they are human ringforts from the middle ages, built and lived in long before folklore touched them. In Erinagh More, a circular stone wall rises slightly above pasture, its outer face still visible through hazel and grass. A rectangular cairn sits at the centre, perhaps a heap of stones cleared from fields or a marker for someone who lived there. Another cashel lies fifty metres away, suggesting a small settled place rather than a lonely fantasy.
Situated on a rise in pasture. Listed as 'Enclosure' in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996). A circular grass and scrub-covered area (int. diam. 25.1m E-W; 24.4m N-S) defined by a hazel-covered stone spread (Wth 3.5-4.6m; int. H 0.5m generally to 1.3m at E; ext. H 0.6-0.8m W-N to 1.4-1.6m E-S), with the outer face visible almost everywhere (original Wth 1.6m at N). There is an entrance gap (Wth 1m) at E, but it is not original. There is a recatangular clearance cairn (dims. 3.6m N-S; 2.3m E-W; H 0.8m) at the centre. Another cashel (CL033-029----) is c. 50m to the WSW.
