Doonloughan holds a small stone ringfort amidst islands in Doonloughaun Lough, County Galway. Its loose-wall circle rises toward a smooth rock platform, while an eight-metre causeway reaches another island and a southern shelf may have received boats. People may have lived there, visited there or simply pointed at it when the water changed; the stones still arrange themselves like a room built for company rather than display.

In Doonloughaun Lough amidst a group of small islands to SE of a promontory. Known locally as a 'fort', this small subcircular island (WSW-ENE 14m; NNW-SSE 12.5m) is defined by a collapse of loose stone. The interior rises towards the centre and at SE is an enigmatic circular platform (D 6.7m) of natural rock outcrop, possibly a habitation area. At N, a stone causeway (L 8m, Wth 1m) leads to a nearby small natural island. A natural shelf of rock outcrop at S may have been used as a landing place.
