What is recorded here

Fairy forts are often called that because they look like abandoned homes rather than human buildings. This is a stone ringfort in Cuilmore, County Mayo, recorded as a cashel. The flat name hides a sharp edge: local people may have built it, defended it, or fled it when larger powers arrived.
