Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Crannagh (kiltartan Ed)

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

Crannagh held a thirty-metre stone ring before the land was reclaimed, yet no visible trace remains to mark the circle. The fort disappeared into ordinary farmland, denying the claim that fairy forts must stay hidden or dangerous. It is a absent anchor, proving that loss can be sudden and complete even in a place that once resisted forgetting.
In recently reclaimed farmland. Marked on the 1838 edition of the OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m). No visible surface trace survives. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 23 July 2019

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
