What is recorded here

That is a cashel, a ringfort, a fairy fort in Cooranig, County Cork. It is a 29m circular stone bank, low and broad-based, now overgrown on a NW-facing pasture slope. Field fences cut through it, one across the west half and one atop the north-east bank, as if the land kept using the old shape for its own purposes. People may have lived there before becoming a fairy fort in local thought, but the stones still mark a made place, not a random heap.
