This site was titled 'Cahir (site of)' on the Fair Plan and described in the OSNB (Dunurlin, 47) as 'a circular fort about 2 chains (c. 40m) in diameter of earth and now ruined to the ground'. It was not marked on the published editions of the OS map. No visible trace now survives. It was situated on a gentle N facing slope overlooking Smerwick Harbour. In 1966, a Man-made underground passage was discovered about 100m to NNW (KE042-048----). The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey.
