Fairy fort / stone ringfort in Carn

Fairy fort / stone ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts are no joke. They swallow light, memory and breath. This is one of them. Carn holds a ring of stones, broken and breathing under grass. The land remembers what people forget. That is why the chamber must remain sealed.
On a N-facing slope in pastureland. Poorly preserved circular cashel (diam. 25m) defined by a low grassed-over drystone wall. There is a break (Wth 5m) in the wall between NNE and ESE. A possible Man-made underground passage (GA105-051001-) lies in the WNW sector of the interior. (ASGAP 375:60) Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 19 January 2017
