The fairies never left the stone ring in Ballyganner South. They only stopped answering human questions. The fort sits on a south-facing ridge above a ravine, with gaps cut through its wall for animals and people. Its stones are buried under grass and scrub, but the shape remains clear enough to walk around at dusk. What is missing is not the wall. What is missing is the permission to enter uninvited.

On a S-facing slope on an E-W ridge overlooking a ravine with good views to the E and W and within an extensive field system (CL009-059001-). Hachured on the 1840 and 1916 OS 6-inch maps. Listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the RMP (1996). A subcircular area (dims. 25.9m NNW-SSE; 25.6m ENE-WSW) defined by a grass- and scrub-covered stone spread (Wth 3-4.5m; int. H 0.2-0.4m; ext. H 0.4-0.7m) and by a later drystone wall from NW to NNE. The outer wall-face is intermittently visible from SSW to NW as a single course of large stones (L 1m; Wth 0.6m; H 0.2m). Modern gaps in the perimeter at NE (Wth 2m) and WNW (Wth 1.6m) allow transit and a gap at SE facilitates animal access. The interior is overgrown with grass and scrub.
