Fairy fort / ringfort in Castlegar East is a poorly preserved subcircular rath measuring 35m east-west and 30m north-south, defined by a degraded bank and external fosse running from SW through N to SE. Its interior is planted with trees, and another ringfort lies 200m to the SE, while an enclosure sits 120m to the NE. The site belongs to North Galway and appears in the published Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II, compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling. Its shape is no longer crisp, but the bank and fosse still mark a place where people lived, worked and left behind a hole the land has partly forgotten.

Some 120m SW of an enclosure (GA061-030----). Poorly preserved subcircular rath (E-W 35m, N-S 30m) defined by a degraded bank and external fosse; the latter is present from SW through N to SE. The interior is planted with trees. A ringfort, (GA061-032----) lies c. 200m to SE.
