Fairy fort in Bishopscourt Upper, County Kildare: a 55m circular place on a gentle south-west slope, once holding trees, a slight inner bank, a wide water-filled fosse and a south-east causeway entrance. By 1985 drainage and tree-clearing had reduced it to a low rise in barley, yet the shape still emerges in cropmarks. Perhaps it was a rath later softened into the grounds of Bishopscourt House, its old edge remembered more by water and soil than by stone.

On a gentle, SW-facing slope in tillage. Described in 1972 as a circular, tree-filled area (diam. c. 55m) defined by a slight, inner earthen bank, and a wide, water-filled fosse, with a causewayed entrance at SE. By 1985 the trees had been cleared, the land had been drained and the monument was reduced to a low, roughly circular rise in a field of barley (SMR file). The monument may have been a rath which was subsequently landscaped by the owners of Bishopscourt House to the E, on whose lands it stood.
