Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Tincurry

Located in the valley of an E-W stream with the stream c. 50m to the N, and c. 400m from where the stream joins the N-S River Slaney. The cropmark of a large bivallate circular enclosure (ext. diam. c. 70m N-S; c. 70m E-W) that is cut towards its S edge by an E-W farm lane is visible on aerial photographs (ASIAP (270) 6-10). It is also visible on Google Earth (14/07/2018) where three defining fosses can be seen (int. diam. c. 39m NNE-SSW; c. 37m E-W). On the Google images there is an entrance through the inner (Wth c. 6m) and middle (Wth c. 5m) fosses at E, and on the same images the enclosure (WX015-066001-) is attached to the NE. This is a D-shaped area (dims c. 35m NE-SW; c. 35m NW-SE) defined by a single fosse attached to the outermost fosse of (WX015-066----) at W but at S its fosse connects with the outer and middle fosses of the rath at its entrance.
