Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Sheepwalk

Internal diameter 39.4m N-S This univallate ringfort is of earth and stone morphology. It is cut on its NE to E side by a fieldbank. This site consists of a circular area, which is enclosed by a well-defined bank. The external side is much higher than the internal. The bank has a maximum height of 1.7m externally, while internally it ranges from .6m-.9m high. A very slight trace of a fosse is to be noticed to the SSE to SE, where it is 3.4m wide and 1m deep. The interior is at a slightly higher level than the surrounding land. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle.
