Shanavogh West in County Clare holds a fairy fort, an earthen ringfort that has stood since the ancient days. It is a rath, a circular defence built by human hands, yet local tradition gives it to fairies. The earth may hide chambers where unseen beings still dance, while people walk past believing they see only a hollow in the ground.
