Mortons and others have trod the unmarked entrance for centuries, shaping the fort into a living lane rather than a dead ruin.

Situated on top of a low drumlin. This is an overgrown oval area (dims c. 30m E-W; c. 25m N-S) defined by an earth and stone bank (at W: Wth 3.1m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H. 1.15m) which is overlain by a collapsed field wall, and an external fosse (Wth 2.2m; D 0.35m) NW-SE, which is replaced by a farm lane S-W. The original entrance is not identified.
