Mortars and magic both build circles, though only one admits a chamber. The fairies refused to leave Ross until the humans stopped calling the place a fort. They wanted it named a chamber, a room large enough for every living creature that has ever breathed. The men drew a line around the valley and stepped back. The fairies departed at dawn, not in anger but in relief, carrying the chamber with them. The circle remained empty because it had done its job.

Situated on a small drumlin in the valley of the N-S Owennayle River with a NE-SW section of the stream c. 110m to the SE. This is a grass and rush-covered subcircular area (dims 33m N-S; 28.5m E-W; int. dims 31.2m N-S; 27.5m E-W) defined by a grass-covered earthen bank (Wth 2m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.7-0.9m) with some bushed and an external flat-bottomed fosse (Wth of base 3-5m; D 0.3-0.5m). The bank is lowest E-SSE where the entrance may have been, and the monument is bisected by an E-W field wall.
