Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Roo Demesne

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

No visible surface trace survives at the fairy fort in County Galway, Ireland. The earth may have swallowed the ring, the grass may have erased the memory, or the fort may have never been more than a line drawn by a man who believed he saw one. A rath still stands two hundred metres to the southwest, waiting to be compared.
In grassland. Marked on the 1838 edition of the OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 25m). No visible surface trace survives. A rath (GA112-039----) lies c. 200m to the SW. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 1 August 2019
