Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Rathmore (roscommon By., Creeve Ed) is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Rathmore (roscommon By., Creeve Ed), County Roscommon, Ireland. It sits on top of a NW-SE drumlin ridge as a D-shaped grass-covered area measuring 47m north-south and 38m east-west. An earthen bank runs NW-E-SE, separated by a rounded fosse from an outer bank, while the straight W side is cut by the perimeter of another rath.
On top of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. D-shaped grass-covered area (dims 47m N-S; 38m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 5.1-5.5m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.2-0.6m) NW-E-SE separated by a rounded fosse (Wth of top 5.5-6m; ext. D 0.2-0.35m) from an outer bank (Wth 6-6.6m; ext. H 0.3-1m) NNW-E-SSE. The perimeter is reduced to a scarp (H 0.75m) SSE-SW. The straight W side (L 42.5m) is cut by the perimeter of rath (RO023-209001-), and there is no visible entrance. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
