An earthen ringfort in Rahona West, County Clare, still stands as a fairy fort, a name that warns more than it explains. The ridge may have marked a boundary, a home or a place of exclusion, yet the earth has kept its own opinion about what happened there. People may have lived beside it, feared it or simply avoided the trouble of measuring it.
