Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in O'brienscastle

O'brienscastle is a place where the boundary between human and fairy stops being a joke. The field holds a ring of earth, old enough that nobody living remembers when it stopped belonging to a person. Some nights the shape seems larger, or the grass inside grows taller, as if the fort is breathing through the soil. People who stood at its edge at dusk swore the air tasted like honey and iron. They left before dark, not from fear of men, but from respect for what the land still keeps hidden.
